This is the most exited i have ever been about writing a blog. The more I think about the studio, the more eager I become to start filming. I believe this podcast studio will certainly make this film opening look professionally produced.
In my opinion, mise-en-scene elements make or break a film. The importance of this cannot be underestimated as they it can: create emotional tone, shape power relationships, represent anything, create symoblism...You get the point, it is CRUCIAL.
Thankfully, I have a dad who works in the media atmosphere. He has an office where he records many media productions like podcasts and interviews, which is perfect for this film, an interview. The inspiration for our film came from the studio because my team and I wanted to have something that made us stand out. While we kept our chore idea about an issue in the medical field, we where able to incorporate and take advantage of the resources we had at hand.
When the film transitions to the show like mentioned in my previous blog, a visual will come on screen showing that this is live announcement. We are still debating on whether we will film on the dark side or the white chairs. We are torn between the professional look for the show or the dark back-round wall that sets the tone for the news Dr Mueller is about to break. A decision will be made very soon. Some background elements for both places can be changed, so when all of our team gets there, we will come up with a background we all agree on. The lighting will be based off what background we choose. What we do have decided is that the microphones will be in the scenes regardless of what side settle on.
What we also have also decided is the costume designs for both the interviewer and Dr. Mueller. The interviewer will be wearing something very formal since this is a big show with a big audince he will dress formally. This also develops the importance of the show since he is dressed nicely, which implies the show has made him very wealthy. We want to imply this because it shows the importance of Dr. Mueller's status.
Dr. Mueller will not be wearing his doctor outfit because he is not in his office, but he will be wearing a formal blue shirt. The blue will be a more light washed out blue. This small detail develops tone. A washed-out blue usually represents sadness. This would also work out great because there are many formal washed blue shirts, so the blend of money he has made from the medicine but the sadness the new medicine has caused him, all blend in one shirt. Little details like this will set the tone very early
Here are pictures of the studio.
