With so many visuals being displayed all at once, sound is one of the most overlooked aspects in films in this day and age. Sound effects and background music are good examples of small details that many individuals overlook. My team and I will be incorporating both sound effects and background music because we understand how the quality of a film can be improved if these two are done correctly. We will turn into foley artists, allowing us to use our creativity. Not only does it allow us to be creative, but we can make this process a lot more fun than just finding copy-right free sounds on YouTube.
The film will begin with Maverick watching Dr. Mueller about to break the big news with intense back round music as the show begins. The sound of the show will sound like it is coming out of a device because the film opens up with Maverick's POV watching. The film will smoothly transition into the actual show, improving the sound quality as if the audience were actually watching the news being broken.
When the interviewer introduces himself, a clapping sound effect will come in as if there was a live audience watching. A live audience implies that this is a big show with a big fanbase. When Dr. Mueller breaks the news, a second or 2 of absolute silence is going to make the audience feel uncomfortable and will add to the already dark scene.
A cut back to Maverick's face, seen through a close up , will be displayed with him freaking out through dialogue.
A sudden cut back to the show, introduced by a sound bridge of the intense news-like background music, will introduce the show one last time to reveal that Dr. Mueller took his own life.
After the cut back to Maverick, he will be seen typing, but we want to foley the typing because that is a lot more fun than just downloading a sound. The foley would improve the quality of the sound as it will be slightly more precise.
